Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has warned that he would seek the intervention of United States President Donald Trump if anything goes wrong during the forthcoming Osun State governorship election.
Speaking during a live session with comedian Carter Efe, the singer stressed the need for a free, fair and credible poll, insisting that he would not remain silent if the electoral process was compromised.
“I will involve Trump if anything goes wrong in the Osun election,” Davido said, adding that he would draw international attention to any alleged irregularities.
The election, scheduled for August 15, will see incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke seeking a second term in office.
Davido, who is the governor’s nephew, has been actively involved in his uncle’s re-election campaign and has consistently called on electoral authorities and security agencies to ensure a transparent and credible voting process.
His latest remarks come amid heightened political tensions ahead of the governorship election, with opposition parties and stakeholders raising concerns over the conduct of the poll and urging relevant institutions to guarantee a level playing field for all contestants.
