Popular Nigerian singer, Abiola Akinbiyi, professionally known as Bella Shmurda, has alleged that he was defrauded after paying $4 million for a property in Lagos that he later discovered allegedly did not belong to the seller.
The music star made the emotional revelation during an Instagram Live session on Tuesday, where he broke down in tears while appealing to Nigerians for help over the incident.
According to Bella Shmurda, he only recently discovered that the property he purchased was allegedly stolen and that the individual who sold it to him had disappeared after receiving the payment.
“Nigeria, I need your help. I’m not doing okay right now. I spent $4 million of my own hard-earned money, only to find out I bought stolen property,” the singer said during the livestream.
He added, “And now the seller has disappeared. Please, help me. Someone step in. I’ve got nothing left. I worked for years for this. I can’t lose $4 million like that.”
The singer said he has already contacted his lawyer to investigate the transaction and pursue appropriate legal action.
“I just contacted my lawyer for further investigation,” he stated.
Bella Shmurda did not reveal the identity of the alleged seller or provide further details about the property involved in the transaction.
As of the time of filing this report, the allegations remain unverified. There has been no official statement from law enforcement authorities or any individual connected to the alleged property deal, and investigations are expected to clarify the circumstances surrounding the claim.
