The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMBO, has recorded a decisive victory at Ward 08, Polling Unit 02 in Irewole Local Government Area of Osun State.
The polling unit, reportedly associated with the political stronghold and Federal Character Commission FCC Hon Hulayat Ayo Omidiran, returned 283 votes for the APC, giving Oyebamiji a commanding lead over his closest rival.
The Accord Party secured 48 votes at the polling unit.
The result places the APC ahead by 235 votes, underscoring the strength of Oyebamiji’s support in the polling unit as results from across the state continue to emerge from the ongoing Osun governorship election.
The outcome is particularly significant as Ward 08, Unit 02 is located in Ikire, the headquarters of Irewole Local Government Area and the home base of Oyebamiji, who hails from the area.
The APC’s strong showing at the unit also represents an early boost for the party’s campaign machinery in Irewole, where party leaders and supporters had mobilised voters ahead of Saturday’s election.
With 283 votes, the APC secured nearly six times the number of votes recorded by Accord at the polling unit.
The result is part of the series of polling-unit figures being collated following the conclusion of voting and counting across various locations in Osun State.
Voting officially ended at the prescribed time, although voters who were already on the queue before the closing time were allowed to exercise their franchise in line with electoral guidelines.
As collation continues, attention is now shifting to other polling units across Irewole and the 30 local government areas of Osun State, with supporters of the major political parties closely monitoring the emerging figures.
The final outcome of the election will be determined by the aggregate results from all polling units across the state.

The result further raises expectations over the performance of Oyebamiji in his home local government as the Osun governorship election enters the results collation stage.
