Accepting Transport Money From Man Without Meeting Him Can Land You In Jail- Police

By Our Reporter

The Rivers State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) has warned women against accepting transport money from men without eventually meeting them in person, describing the act as potentially punishable under the law.

The police spokesperson issued the warning while addressing concerns surrounding relationships and financial transactions between men and women, particularly situations where money is allegedly collected under the guise of arranging a meeting.

According to the PPRO, accepting transport money from a man and failing to meet him could have legal consequences, depending on the circumstances surrounding the transaction.

The statement has generated reactions, with members of the public debating the circumstances under which accepting money for transportation could amount to a criminal offence.

The police have, however, continued to urge members of the public to exercise caution when engaging in online relationships and financial transactions with people they have not met physically.

The warning also underscores the need for individuals to avoid deceptive conduct, especially where money is obtained through representations that may not be honoured.

Members of the public have been advised to report suspicious transactions or suspected fraudulent activities to the police and other relevant authorities.
