BREAKING: APC National Secretary Storms Adeleke’s Office, Reveals 2027 Deal as Tinubu Eyes 1.5m Votes in Osun

A major political realignment may be taking shape in Osun State ahead of the 2027 presidential election as the National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Ajibola Basiru, on Sunday met with Governor Ademola Adeleke in Osogbo.
The meeting, held at the Osun State Government House, has sparked fresh political attention barely two weeks after Adeleke defeated the APC candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, in the August 15 governorship election.
Basiru, who led a delegation of APC leaders to the governor, said the visit was threefold: to congratulate Adeleke on his electoral victory, reciprocate the governor’s earlier visit during his period of bereavement and, significantly, discuss the mobilisation of support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Adeleke to Campaign for Tinubu — Basiru
The biggest political revelation from the meeting was Basiru’s disclosure that Adeleke had reaffirmed his support for Tinubu’s re-election bid.
According to the APC national secretary, the Osun governor is not merely endorsing Tinubu but is expected to actively campaign for the President ahead of the 2027 poll.
Basiru said the APC was prepared to work with Adeleke and other political forces in the state to deliver Osun massively for Tinubu.
“We are ready to work together to ensure that we deliver Osun massively for President Bola Tinubu,” Basiru said.
He further disclosed that discussions were ongoing to integrate the Accord Party structure into the wider campaign machinery for Tinubu.
APC Sets 1.5 Million-Vote Target
Basiru also unveiled an ambitious electoral target, saying the combination of the APC and Accord Party structures could deliver about 1.5 million votes for Tinubu in Osun State.
He argued that the APC’s performance in the recent governorship election, combined with the votes secured by Accord, provides a substantial political base that could be mobilised for the presidential contest.
The projection comes as political parties intensify their preparations for the 2027 presidential election, with Osun emerging as an important battleground.
From Political Rivals to 2027 Partners?
The meeting is particularly significant because Basiru was one of the leading APC figures who campaigned against Adeleke during the just-concluded governorship election.
Basiru acknowledged that he had worked vigorously for Oyebamiji and had personally campaigned across several local government areas in an attempt to secure victory for the APC candidate.
However, with the governorship election now over, he urged political actors to put the contest behind them and focus on the future of the state.
The APC national secretary also praised Adeleke for attending the burial of his late mother and visiting his family during the period of mourning, describing the gesture as consistent with the Yoruba value of Omoluabi.
APC Moves to Close Ranks After Election Defeat
The visit also comes as the APC begins to reposition its structure in Osun following its defeat in the governorship election.
Basiru urged APC members to close ranks and work together ahead of the 2027 general election, stressing that the party’s defeat at the governorship poll should not become a permanent division within the party.
He also appealed for continued peace in Osun following reports of post-election violence and urged political actors to prioritise the interests of residents over partisan differences.
The development could mark a significant shift in Osun’s political landscape, particularly if the proposed APC-Accord collaboration and Adeleke’s reported support for Tinubu translate into a coordinated campaign structure ahead of 2027.
For now, the meeting between the APC’s national leadership and an opposition governor who has just secured another term has placed Osun at the centre of the emerging political calculations for the 2027 presidential election.
