Spain have secured their place in the 2026 FIFA World Cup final after defeating France 2-0 in Tuesday’s semi final in Arlington, Texas.
La Roja took the lead in the 22nd minute when Mikel Oyarzabal calmly converted a penalty after Lucas Digne brought down Lamine Yamal inside the box.
The goal marked Oyarzabal’s fifth of the tournament and handed France their first deficit of the World Cup campaign.
Spain extended their advantage in the 58th minute through Pedro Porro, who capped off a brilliant team move created by Dani Olmo to make it 2-0.
Despite pushing for a comeback, France struggled to break through Spain’s organised defence as Luis de la Fuente’s side comfortably held on for the win.
The victory sends Spain into Sunday’s World Cup final, where they will face the winner of the second semi final between England and Argentina.
France, who were hoping to reach a third consecutive World Cup final, saw their impressive run come to an end at the hands of a dominant Spanish side.
