UK Visa-Free Travel 2026: Full List of Countries Eligible to Visit UK Without a Visa

Millions of international travellers can continue to visit the United Kingdom without applying for a traditional visitor visa, as the UK government maintains visa-free entry for citizens of several countries under its latest travel rules.
However, while many nationalities do not require a visitor visa for short stays, most are now required to obtain an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) before travelling. Irish citizens remain the only exception, as they are exempt from both visa and ETA requirements under the Common Travel Area agreement.
Under current UK immigration rules, visitors from eligible countries can stay in the UK for up to six months for purposes such as tourism, visiting family and friends, attending business meetings, or enrolling in short courses.
The UK government maintains a list of “visa nationals” whose citizens must obtain a visa before travelling. Citizens of countries not on that list are generally permitted to enter without a traditional visitor visa, provided they meet all entry requirements and, where applicable, secure an ETA before departure.
Among the countries whose citizens can visit the UK without a traditional visitor visa are the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, Israel, Malaysia, Brunei, Chile, Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Saudi Arabia, and most European countries, including France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Portugal, the Netherlands, Belgium, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Austria, Switzerland and Poland.
The introduction of the ETA system is part of the UK’s efforts to strengthen border security while making travel more efficient for eligible visitors. Travellers are advised to confirm whether they need an ETA before booking flights, as airlines may deny boarding to passengers who fail to meet the entry requirements.
The UK government also reminds travellers that visa-free access does not guarantee entry, as border officials retain the authority to assess each traveller’s eligibility upon arrival.
