Pictorial: Ibadan High Chief Lekan Alabi Laid to Rest As Chief Imam Of Ibadan Leads Janazah Prayer

There was an outpouring of grief in Ibadan on Sunday as the late High Chief Lekan Alabi the Abese Olubadan Of Ibadan Land was laid to rest in accordance with Islamic rites.
The Janazah (funeral) prayer was led by the Chief Imam of Ibadanland, who prayed for the repose of the deceased’s soul and urged mourners to emulate his virtues of service, humility and dedication to humanity.
Family members, traditional rulers, political leaders, associates and admirers gathered to bid farewell to the respected Ibadan chief, author, Journalist and public affairs commentator, whose death has continued to attract tributes from across Nigeria.
The late high chief was widely celebrated for his commitment to preserving the history and cultural heritage of Ibadan and the Yoruba people through his writings, public engagements and service to the Olubadan traditional institution.
Dignitaries at the burial described Alabi as a distinguished son of Ibadanland whose contributions to culture, scholarship and public service would continue to inspire generations.
Friends and associates also paid glowing tributes, recalling his commitment to community development, intellectual excellence and the promotion of Yoruba culture.
Prayers were offered for Allah to forgive his shortcomings and grant him Al-Jannah Firdaus, while sympathisers urged his family to find strength in the remarkable legacy he left behind.
Lekan Alabi died at the age of 76, leaving behind a lasting legacy as a respected historian, cultural ambassador and one of Ibadan’s most accomplished traditional title holders.
