Police Launch Manhunt After Man Allegedly Kills Wife and Takes Two Children in Imo

A quiet community in Imo State has been thrown into shock after a man allegedly killed his wife and disappeared with two of their children.
The tragic incident happened in Owaelu, Owerri North Local Government Area, where residents reportedly found the woman’s lifeless body inside a church premises on Monday morning.
According to sources in the community, the couple had been having repeated disagreements before the incident. After the alleged attack, the suspect reportedly fled with two of their children, leaving behind their infant, who was later found abandoned and safely rescued.
The heartbreaking discovery has left many residents devastated, with fears growing over the safety of the two missing children.
Confirming the incident, the Imo State Police Command said it has launched a manhunt for the suspect. Police spokesperson, DSP Henry Okoye, revealed that officers from the Owerri North Division have visited the scene and are working tirelessly to arrest the suspect and rescue the children.
The rescued baby has since been handed over to a trusted family member, while investigations remain ongoing.
The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Owerri North has inspected the scene, and police say efforts have been stepped up to arrest the suspect and safely recover the two missing children.
