Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has embarked on a holiday after spending 30 days commissioning projects, flagging off new ones and inspecting ongoing projects across the Federal Capital Territory.
Wike’s break comes after an intensive period of project-related activities across Abuja, during which he participated in the commissioning of completed projects, initiated new developments and inspected several ongoing projects in different parts of the nation’s capital.
According to the FCT Minister’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, Wike also used the period to review projects lined up for commissioning in December and January next year before taking time off.
Olayinka disclosed that the minister had undertaken a review of the projects scheduled for completion and commissioning in the coming months as part of efforts to ensure that ongoing projects remain on schedule.
The minister’s recent activities have focused largely on the execution and delivery of infrastructure projects in the FCT, with several roads, bridges and other public facilities either commissioned, inspected or flagged off under the administration.
Wike, who assumed office as FCT Minister in August 2023, has repeatedly emphasised the need for timely completion of infrastructure projects as part of efforts to transform Abuja and improve the quality of life for residents.
The holiday is expected to provide the minister with an opportunity to rest after the 30-day project-focused schedule, while preparations continue for projects expected to be commissioned in the coming months.
Olayinka said the minister had particularly reviewed the projects scheduled for commissioning in December and January before proceeding on the break.
