The Nigerian Army has announced the commencement of applications for the Short Service Combatant Commission (SSCC) Course 50/2026, inviting qualified Nigerians to apply for commission as officers.
According to the recruitment notice, the online application opened on Friday, August 7, 2026, and will close on Thursday, September 17, 2026. The Army stressed that the application process is completely free, warning prospective applicants to beware of fraudsters demanding payment.
Applicants are required to be Nigerians by birth, possess a Bachelor’s degree from a recognised institution, and present a valid National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) discharge or exemption certificate. Candidates must also be between 22 and 28 years old, physically and medically fit, have no criminal record, and satisfy all Nigerian Army recruitment requirements.
Interested candidates are to submit their applications online through the Nigerian Army recruitment portal.
The Army also urged applicants to ensure that all information provided during registration is accurate, warning that multiple applications would lead to automatic disqualification.
The recruitment exercise is aimed at enlisting qualified graduates into the Nigerian Army’s officer corps through the Short Service Combatant Commission programme. The Army has consistently maintained that its recruitment process is transparent, merit-based, and free of charge.
