From Social Director to SUG President, Big Afoo Appointed as Ogun CityBoy Student Coordinator

The Ogun State Student Coordinator of the CityBoy Movement, Comr. Afolabi Temitope, popularly known as Big Afoo, has emerged as one of the prominent young voices in student mobilisation, rising from his days as a Social Director to become a Students’ Union Government (SUG) President and now the Student Coordinator of the movement in Ogun State.
Big Afoo’s latest role was highlighted on Saturday during the inauguration of the Ogun State executive of the CityBoy Movement, held under the leadership of the movement’s State Patron, Alhaji Kamorudeen Olawale Yusuf, and State Director, Dr. Lateef Sulaimon.
The programme featured the inauguration of the state executive, an empowerment programme and the commissioning of the CityBoy Movement Ogun State Secretariat, as the organisation moves to strengthen its structures and deepen its grassroots presence across the state.
For Big Afoo, however, the occasion also represented another stage in a journey that began with student leadership.
Having served as a Social Director, he progressed to become a SUG President, taking on greater responsibilities in representing students and coordinating student activities before eventually emerging as Student Coordinator of the CityBoy Movement in Ogun State.
His progression from campus leadership into a wider political mobilisation role has placed him at the centre of the movement’s efforts to engage students across tertiary institutions in Ogun State.
Speaking after the inauguration, Big Afoo expressed appreciation to SUG presidents, campus ambassadors, student leaders, stakeholders and students who responded to the movement’s invitation and participated in its activities.
He described the students as the “real MVPs,” saying their support and commitment demonstrated the strength of the student constituency in the state.
According to him, students have an important role to play not only in campus affairs but also in shaping the wider political and democratic process.
He therefore called on eligible students to become more actively involved in civic activities, particularly ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Big Afoo urged students to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards and participate responsibly in elections, stressing that young people must take advantage of democratic processes to make their voices heard.
He also reaffirmed his commitment to mobilising students peacefully and responsibly while promoting unity, responsible citizenship and active participation in the democratic process.
His emergence as Student Coordinator comes as the CityBoy Movement continues to expand its structures across Ogun State, with the newly inaugurated executive expected to drive grassroots mobilisation and strengthen the movement’s presence across communities and tertiary institutions.
For Big Afoo, the transition from Social Director to SUG President and now Student Coordinator marks a progression from campus representation to broader youth and political mobilisation.
