The Oyo State chapter of the ACCORD Party has reaffirmed Hon. Kunle Busari, popularly known as Guudu Guudu, as its authentic governorship candidate for the 2027 general election, while urging members across the state to remain united and committed to the party’s victory.
The reaffirmation was made during an enlarged stakeholders’ meeting organised by the Oyo State Working Committee, led by the State Chairman, Prince Kolade Ojo, and the State Secretary, Hon. Olayinka Dairo, in Ibadan.
The meeting brought together party executives, stakeholders, and chairmen from all 33 local government areas of the state. Also present were the National Secretary of the party, Hon. (Dr.) Adebukola Ajaja, and the party’s governorship candidate, Hon. Kunle Busari.
In a statement jointly signed by Prince Ojo and Hon. Dairo, the party said the gathering was convened to review activities within the party, strengthen internal cohesion, assess grassroots mobilisation efforts, and chart a clear path towards the 2027 elections.
Addressing members, the National Secretary, Dr. Adebukola Ajaja, cautioned party faithful against what she described as political distractions from individuals attempting to hijack the party’s structure for personal interests.
She maintained that the leadership of ACCORD remained intact and insisted that the list of candidates produced through the party’s primaries remained the only valid list ahead of the 2027 elections.
“Let me assure you that those behind these distractions will be surprised when the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) publishes the authentic list of candidates for the elections,” Ajaja said.
She reiterated that Hon. Kunle Busari remains the duly nominated governorship candidate of the party in Oyo State and urged members to intensify mobilisation efforts for all ACCORD candidates across the state.
Speaking at the meeting, Busari called on party supporters to deepen grassroots engagement and continue promoting the party’s programmes in their various communities.
He disclosed that campaign materials would soon be distributed across all 33 local government areas to enhance voter education and support campaign activities.
“We shall provide everything you need to canvass support for ACCORD when campaigns begin in earnest,” Busari assured members.
He further stressed that elections are won through sound strategy, organisation, and effective mobilisation rather than public noise, urging members to remain confident in the party’s leadership.
Earlier, the State Chairman, Prince Kolade Ojo, charged members to remain focused, strategic, and committed to expanding the party’s support base, expressing confidence that ACCORD was well-positioned to form the next government in Oyo State.
Also speaking, the State Secretary, Hon. Olayinka Dairo, commended members of the State Executive Committee, especially the State Treasurer, Hon. Nurudeen Okunola, as well as party leaders, including Alhaji Sulaiman Aleshinloye of Ibadan South East, for their loyalty and unwavering commitment to the party.
The meeting concluded with reports from chairmen across the 33 local government areas, who highlighted ongoing grassroots mobilisation efforts and expressed optimism that ACCORD would record a strong performance in the 2027 governorship election.
