Desmond Elliot Returns to Acting Days After Losing APC Primary

By Aliyu Oyewole

Lawmaker representing Surulere Constituency I in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Desmond Elliot, has been spotted on a movie set just days after losing the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election for his constituency.

Photos circulating on social media showed Elliot alongside fellow Nollywood actor Ibrahim Chatta at what appeared to be a film production location. The two were seen standing together and engaged in conversation during filming.

The development has generated widespread reactions online, with many social media users expressing excitement over the possibility of seeing Elliot return to Nollywood after spending several years in active politics.

His appearance on the movie set comes shortly after he was defeated in the APC primary election for the Surulere Constituency I seat ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Elliot, who has represented the constituency for three consecutive terms in the Lagos State House of Assembly, lost the party’s ticket to Barakat Odunuga-Bakare, who emerged victorious with the majority of votes.

Before venturing into politics, Elliot established himself as one of Nollywood’s most recognizable actors, featuring in numerous films and television productions.

While his latest appearance on a movie set has fueled speculation that he may be making a return to acting, the lawmaker has not publicly confirmed whether he intends to resume his filmmaking career full-time following his primary election defeat.
