The Federal Government has commenced applications for its newly launched Credit for Laptops, Internet, Connectivity and Knowledge Digital Devices (C.L.I.C.K.D.) Programme, giving eligible Nigerians the opportunity to acquire laptops, smartphones and tablets through affordable credit arrangements.
The initiative is being implemented by the Nigerian Consumer Credit Corporation (CREDICORP) in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy.
The programme was officially unveiled on Tuesday in Abuja by the Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani, alongside the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of CREDICORP, Uzoma Nwagba.
According to the government, the scheme is aimed at improving digital inclusion by enabling Nigerians to own essential digital devices through structured repayment plans instead of making full upfront payments. The pilot phase prioritises locally assembled laptops as part of efforts to encourage local manufacturing.
How to Apply for the C.L.I.C.K.D. Programme
Interested applicants can follow these steps:
- Visit the official C.L.I.C.K.D. application portal.
- Click the “I’m Interested” button.
- Complete the application form by providing:
- State of residence.
- Employment status (Salary Earner, Freelancer, Business Owner, Student, Job Seeker or NYSC Member).
- Monthly income (optional).
- Digital talent programme affiliation such as 3MTT, ALX, AltSchool Africa, Andela Learning Community, HNG Internship, Learn2Earn, Genesys Tech Hub or others.
- Preferred device (Laptop, Smartphone, Tablet or Other).
- Purpose for requesting the device.
- How the applicant heard about the programme.
- Confirm the accuracy of the information provided.
- Consent to be contacted and allow CREDICORP to assess eligibility.
- Submit the application.
Who Can Apply?
For the pilot phase, the programme is currently limited to 1,000 laptops targeted at fellows of the Federal Government’s Three Million Technical Talent (3MTT) Programme.
According to CREDICORP Managing Director, Uzoma Nwagba, the rollout began in Abuja, where 77 beneficiaries have already received their laptops, while the remaining beneficiaries across other states will receive theirs in phases.
However, the application portal also includes participants from other digital talent programmes, including ALX Africa, Andela Learning Community, Learn2Earn, AltSchool Africa, HNG Internship and Genesys Tech Hub, suggesting that members of these programmes may also be considered as the initiative expands.
CREDICORP noted that the phased rollout mirrors its earlier consumer credit programme introduced in 2024, which initially targeted federal civil servants before being extended to a wider population.
The corporation is yet to announce key lending details, including the applicable interest rate, repayment duration and any required down payment for beneficiaries.
