Nigeria’s Super Falcons have qualified for the quarter-finals of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) after a commanding 6-2 victory over Egypt.
The nine-time African champions delivered a clinical attacking performance, scoring six goals to secure their place in the knockout stage with a game to spare.
Asisat Oshoala opened the scoring from the penalty spot deep into first-half stoppage time after Nigeria dominated much of the opening exchanges. Gift Monday extended the Super Falcons’ lead shortly after the restart, putting the team firmly in control of the contest.
The emphatic victory highlighted Nigeria’s attacking quality as the Falcons repeatedly broke through Egypt’s defence to record one of the biggest wins of the tournament so far.
Despite conceding twice, the Nigerian side remained dominant throughout the encounter, maintaining control of possession and creating numerous scoring opportunities to overwhelm their North African opponents.
The result guarantees Nigeria a place in the quarter-finals as the Super Falcons continue their quest for another continental title.
With qualification secured, the team will now turn its attention to its final group-stage fixture, where it will aim to maintain its unbeaten run and build momentum ahead of the knockout rounds.
