Breaking: Tinubu Appoints Teslim Folarin

By Aliyu Oyewole

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed former Oyo State governorship candidate, Senator Teslim Folarin, as a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) 2027 Presidential Campaign Council.

Folarin’s name appears as Number 208 on the official membership list of the council, where he is designated as Zonal Secretary for Stakeholders’ Mobilisation, South-West.

The APC released the expanded membership list of its 2027 Presidential Campaign Council on Saturday, comprising 223 members and covering several directorates and mobilisation structures across the country.

The development comes amid ongoing efforts by the APC leadership to strengthen its structures ahead of the 2027 general elections and consolidate support for Tinubu’s re-election bid.

Folarin, a former Senate Leader and former APC governorship candidate in Oyo State, has remained an influential figure within the party in the South-West.

His inclusion in the campaign council is also significant against the backdrop of recent efforts to reconcile him and other aggrieved stakeholders within the Oyo APC ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

Tinubu had met with Folarin at the Presidential Villa in July as part of efforts to rally support for the APC’s Oyo governorship candidate, Senator Sharafadeen Alli, and resolve lingering disagreements within the party.

Under the newly released campaign council structure, President Tinubu will serve as Chairman, while Vice President Kashim Shettima and APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda will serve as Vice Chairmen. Senator Abdulaziz Yari was named Director-General, with Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma serving as Secretary.

Folarin’s appointment places him directly within the APC’s South-West stakeholder mobilisation structure as the ruling party begins preparations for the 2027 presidential contest.
