Oyo FCC Commissioner Aleshinloye Mourns Veteran Journalist, Abese Olubadan And Cultural Icon Oloye Lekan Alabi

The Commissioner representing Oyo State at the Federal Character Commission (FCC), Prince Ayodeji Abass-Aleshinloye, MDII, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of veteran journalist, renowned public relations practitioner and cultural icon, Oloye Lekan Alabi.
In a condolence message issued through his media office on Sunday, Aleshinloye described the late Alabi as an exceptional media professional whose remarkable contributions to journalism, public service and the preservation of Yoruba culture would remain indelible.
According to him, Oloye Lekan Alabi was more than a seasoned journalist and accomplished public relations expert, noting that he was a living encyclopedia of Yoruba culture and the rich history of Ibadanland.
“Oloye Lekan Alabi was not only a seasoned journalist and an accomplished public relations practitioner; he was a living encyclopedia of Yoruba culture and Ibadan history. His humility, intellect and passion for our cultural heritage made him an irreplaceable icon,” the statement read.
The FCC Commissioner noted that the late Alabi served Oyo State with distinction as Chief Press Secretary to four governors, while also making invaluable contributions to governance, public enlightenment and the promotion of Yoruba traditions.
He added that the deceased’s appearance, conduct and unwavering commitment to traditional values reflected his uncommon love for the Yoruba race and his lifelong dedication to the advancement of Ibadanland.
Aleshinloye said the vacuum created by the death of the respected elder statesman would be difficult to fill, stressing that his legacies would continue to inspire journalists, public communicators, cultural enthusiasts and future generations.
He extended his heartfelt condolences to the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, the Alabi family, the people of Ibadanland, the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), as well as friends, associates and admirers of the late cultural icon.
He prayed that Almighty Allah forgives the shortcomings of the deceased, grants him Aljanah Firdaus and comforts his family and loved ones with the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
