Fubara May Get Ministerial Appointment in 2027 as He Backs Rainbow Coalition

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has officially declared his support for the Rainbow Coalition, the political movement led by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The governor made the declaration during the groundbreaking ceremony for the reconstruction and equipping of the Riven Medical Facility, a public-private partnership pharmaceutical factory in Rivers State.
Speaking at the event, Fubara announced that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains his preferred presidential candidate while endorsing Hon. Kingsley Chinda as his preferred governorship candidate for Rivers State.
He urged his supporters to rally behind every candidate presented by the Rainbow Coalition, describing the alliance as the platform for sustaining peace and development in the state.
“I am supporting our Rainbow Coalition. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is our President, and he is the one we are supporting. The governorship candidate is the candidate I am supporting, and anybody who believes in me will support every candidate under the Rainbow Coalition,” Fubara said.
The governor declared that the era of political conflict in Rivers State had ended, insisting that peace and unity must now take priority over political divisions.
According to him, although some political associates advised him against openly aligning with the coalition at this time, he had already made up his mind.
“I am already in the family. I have returned to our family. Give your total support to the coalition. The time of war is over; it is now time for peace, and that peace will take us to another level,” he added.
Fubara also warned against any action capable of disrupting the fragile peace in the state, stressing that he would not associate with any agenda that could trigger fresh political tensions.
“I am not party to anything that will bring any form of disunity in this state. We have done what we need to do, and now we are moving forward,” he stated.
The Rainbow Coalition is a political alliance spearheaded by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and comprises members drawn from different political parties, including the All Progressives Congress (APC), the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and other political groups.
Fubara’s latest declaration comes months after he withdrew from the APC governorship primary in Rivers State, saying his decision was driven by the need to preserve peace, stability, and unity.
His endorsement of Tinubu, Chinda, and the Rainbow Coalition is expected to reshape the political landscape in Rivers State ahead of the 2027 elections.
